Indiana supreme court blocks state from enforcing abortion ban
The Indiana supreme court issued an order Wednesday that prevents the state from enforcing a Republican-backed abortion ban while it considers whether it violates the state constitution.
The supreme court took over the case after a county judge blocked the ban last month, spurring the attorney general to appeal the decision. The court denied a request from the state attorney general’s office to set aside the preliminary injunction, setting a hearing on the lawsuit filed by abortion clinic operators for 12 January.

Wisconsin gov bids to make abortion a central issue in race
Democratic Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers said Tuesday that he wouldn’t sign a bill creating exceptions for rape and incest if it would keep in place the state’s 1849 abortion ban.
Evers faces Republican Tim Michels, who supported the 1849 ban before changing positions after he won the Republican primary and now says he would sign a bill granting exceptions.

Grassley a ‘no’ on Graham’s 15-week abortion ban
Sen. Chuck Grassley (Iowa), the most senior member of the Senate GOP conference, says he would vote against a national 15-week abortion ban sponsored by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) that has caused a political headache for fellow Republicans.
Grassley’s opposition is surprising because he previously co-sponsored Graham’s bill, introduced last year, to ban abortion after 20 weeks.

US clinics offer free vasectomies in wake of supreme court’s Roe reversal
Amid a reported surge in demand for vasectomies prompted by the US supreme court ruling that removed the right to abortion, Planned Parenthood and a physician with a mobile vasectomy clinic will offer 60 free vasectomies over three days in St Louis, Springfield and Joplin, Missouri, in the first week of November.
